Overview
Founded in 1904, the University of Leeds is known around the world for its high-quality teaching and research. As a proud member of the prestigious Russell Group, it’s one of the UK’s leading research-intensive universities.
With a student body of around 38,000 from more than 140 countries, Leeds is one of the largest universities in the UK. Its impressive 98-acre single-site campus sits just a mile from the heart of the city. On campus, you’ll find top-class facilities—including modern teaching spaces, four libraries, a state-of-the-art gym and swimming pool known as ‘The Edge’.
Leeds offers one of the widest ranges of courses in the country—from English Language and International Foundation Years to hundreds of undergraduate and postgraduate degrees, plus PhD options. A degree from Leeds is recognised and respected worldwide, and its graduates go on to thrive in influential roles across the globe.
Life outside the classroom is just as exciting. The Leeds University Union is the only one in the UK to have earned two gold standards in the Student Union Evaluation Initiative, and with over 300 clubs and societies, there’s something for everyone—whether you’re into film, food, volunteering, or ultimate frisbee.
The university is well-connected too, with easy access to both Manchester and Leeds Bradford airports, and London just a little over two hours away by train.
With an acceptance rate of 64%, Leeds is competitive—but accessible. It ranks 82nd in the QS World University Rankings 2025 and has received the prestigious Queen’s Anniversary Prize three times—in 2009, 2011, and 2021. Many of its courses also include excellent placement and internship options, helping students build real-world experience and boost their employability after graduation.
